Where is the textbook department located in the A.S. Bookstore? When is the best time to purchase my textbooks? The A.S. Bookstore receives information regarding textbook requirements from your professors as early as weeks before the quarter begins through the first weeks of classes. We make every effort to get your books on the shelf as soon as we can after receiving the order. If you don't find the book on the shelf, you can ask for information at the counter in the textbook Department.
Return to top of pageWhat information should I bring with me when purchasing my textbooks? You should bring a list of your classes with you when you shop for your books each quarter. This list should contain the names of your professors along with course numbers and section numbers (CRNs). This will help you make sure you're buying the right books for the right classes. It's not uncommon to have three professors teaching a particular class using three completely different sets of books.
Return to top of pageCan I order my textbooks online?Yes. You can order through our Bookit system. You may have your books delivered to your home or you may pick them up in the Textbook Department. You must present a valid picture I.D. at time of pickup.
Return to top of pageWill I be able to get help finding my books?Yes. Staff will be available to help you locate your textbooks. Our shelves are arranged alphabetically by department name. If you order your books online (Bookit) your books will be pulled, processed, bagged (or boxed) and ready for you in the Textbook Department.
Return to top of pageWhat do I do if a book is sold out?Occasionally books are unavailable when you make your first trip to the Bookstore. In most cases this is not because a book has sold out, but because it simply has not arrived. Instructors are made aware of these out of stock situations. When enrollments are larger than expected, instructors notify the Bookstore of the increases and books are re-ordered. These usually arrive by the end of the first week of classes. To order the book, please visit our website to order the book through the Bookit system. You will receive an email once we have received and processed the book.
Return to top of pageCan I use my financial aid to purchase textbooks?Yes. You can charge your books to your student account (Charge-It) until the second Friday of the quarter.
Return to top of pageHow long do I have to return my books? We offer refunds on textbooks through the second Friday of the quarter. You must have your receipt to refund any textbooks. New books must be in new condition (no binding damage, highlighting, writing, etc.). Shrink-wrapped packages must be in the original packaging.
Return to top of pageWhere is the textbook department located in the A.S. Bookstore? The textbook department is located on the lower level of the bookstore. Once you enter the front door, take a right past the Customer Service desk and go down the stairs on the wall at the far right of the store.
